Seems the Democrats have gotta away from that line of thinking.
Neither political party supports citizens being involved in their government. Civic education has been wiped clean out of the schools and neither party supports getting it back in.

there was a knock on the door this morning.
i was expecting a parcel so eagerly went to the door to find a lone man in a suit standing there.
he asked if i spoke spanish, to which i said "no.
Many JWs are embarrassed of what they do and I'd guess the guy who stopped by your place today felt no different. Can't be to hard on them for not caring enough to spread their message at an opportune time. Pretty ironic when you think of it.
why is it soooo important to be a regular meeting attender when you can read the publication simply, at home?
they don't want you elaborating on the material.
they don't encourage doing extra research.
To take up your time!
well where do i start?
i am 34, male and gay.
when i was about 15 i was exposed to the witnesses teachings.
I too had no family that were JWs but heard their message about the age of 15 and began attending the Kingdom Hall. Eventually I converted at the age of 17 because I was convince by an Elder that it was the right thing to do. At about the age of 23 I began to have serious doubts and eventually left the religion. I never had true friends in the JWs so leaving was not that difficult. My wife (whom I married a few years after joining the JWs) eventually left as well.
I'm glad you have found your way out of the JWs and have moved on with your life. Great to hear that you have a good relationship with your family.
i was still in the "troof" a couple of years ago when my mom said that to my face, in front of my husband no less.. he was a jw as well, he couldn't believe it.
my reply was "well i will give my life to save my children and if god sees fit to punish me for that - that's his choice".
lily.
When your entire reality is based on the extreme chances you take (like joining hard line fundamentalist religions) there is sometimes little room left for error and personal responsibility.
Its amazing how self indulgent the Watchtower system makes a person. It keeps people from reasonably looking at the world in terms of how it can serve them and build up their own ideas of right and wrong.
the "ever-changing doctrine" of the watchtower org.
is now creating an "incubator of doubts" that seems to be "hatching" this so-called "new breed" of witnesses.
watchtower publications written with purposeful ambiguous articles seems to be allowing many witnesses to become extremely liberal in their way of thinking.the watchtower org's view, as of late, in making more things a conscience matter, blood issues, voting, alternative service, organ transplants, attending weddings and funerals in churches, celebrating holidays, etc.
It may appear that the Watchtower is lessening regulations in their publications, but they still rely heavily upon deeply ingrained mindsets to continue things just the way they are.
Remember that most of Watchtower wants to say in regards to policy has already been said. They have purposefully not updated articles from the 60's,70's, 80's and 90s because to do so would bring dirty laundry to light. Rather they prefer for somebody stuck in a certain situation to go back into the older publications to find an answer.
The JWs are just as hardcore as they ever were. The difference now is that they rely on older publications to do the work. If you are one of the unlucky ones who is burdened by these older rulings you have no sympathizer because the newer magazines give off a different vibe and that is what the current rank and file are used to.
after string of losses, republicans face crisisby jonathan weisman and paul kanewashington post staff writers .
thursday, may 15, 2008; page a01 .
house republicans turned on themselves yesterday after a third straight loss of a gop-held house seat in special elections this year left both parties contemplating widespread democratic gains in november.
Please, don't get you hopes up, their all one and the same.
I agree with you to a point. Republicans have totally sold out IMO and the Democrats are a few steps behind. Major reforms (especially in our voting system) are never going to be put forward by either of the two major parties.
I miss Paul Wellstone!
it was the obama rally where john edwards announced his endorsement for obama.
i couldn't help but think about how the witnesses always brag about how orderly and clean they are when they get together, not like those heathens in the world.
yet, everyone was respectful and cooperative.
I saw Obama when he came to Pittsburgh, what a crowd!
I saw this post on youtube most likely made by a JW that I think sums up what you are talking about:
If ur daughter is raped if ur car is stolen if you are assaulted and robbed, conned or slandered if you are a victim of a terrorist attack, you can be sure of one thing the perp was not a JW because they are taught to be peace loving, law abiding citizens by means of their bible study program.occasionally an unrepentant evil doer emerges, when exposed they r expelled to keep the congregation clean. Some repent and are welcomed back. others like shasbo become bitter n wage a smear campaign.
What absurdity! Yet this is the mentality of those who are inside the Watchtower system.
There is absolutely no data whatsoever that a JW can point to in order to prove that members of their faith have better behavior than people outside of it. Their literature tells them that they are better, so the believe it to be so.
Perceptions are not reality! When will they learn?
have you heard anything those of you with ears to the borg still?
about the cyclone?
the death tolls?
The bigger the excitement and expectation, the bigger the disappointment
It's a shame but many who cling to 'end of the world' predictions look forward to news of gloom hoping it will confirm their beliefs. Just remember that eventually time passes and they are again shown to be off the mark in their predictions.
Every second Jehovah's Witnesses and their leaders at Watchtower headquarters continue to actually believe the end is near is another second they waste planning for the future. They have done this for over a century and continue to put their religion at risk. I hope they keep doing it.
i would like to know how jw's reconcile their world view with the fact that there exists creatures that live solely on blood.
bed bugs are in the news at the moment so they serve as a good example.
bed bugs live solely on the blood of animals.. ok, please explain to me how you reconcile the belief of creation by jehovah with the existence of bed bugs?.
JW's believe the blood ban is for humans alone. They probably would define it as those who were made in 'Gods image'. The functions of blood outside of the human race are pretty much deemed irrelevant, although I believe hearing once that JWs were not allowed to give their pets blood transfusions.
It's one of those things they just don't bother taking the time to discuss.
